The World Science Fiction Convention was held in conjunction with the Japan Science Fiction Convention (Nihon SF Taikai).
Nippon 2007 initially reported a loss of about $40,000, but in December 2011, at the 2011 Smofcon, it increased the estimate to at least $70,000 while announcing a new bid for 2017. In August, 2012 at Chicon 7 it announced that the remaining loss was around $84,000 after having received around $30,000 in donations.
