Maggie and her husband, Don Thompson, were coeditors of the fanzines Harbinger, Comic Art, Rainy Days, and Newfangles.

The Thompsons were married in June, 1962. They had met in 1957 at a picnic at the home of SF author Basil Wells. Maggie graduated in 1964 from Oberlin College with a degree in English. She worked as a librarian until she quit to have children.
