Charles John Huffam Dickens was an English writer and social critic. He created some of the world's best-known fictional characters and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era.

His most well-known genre work is probably “A Christmas Carol” (1843), which has been presented in many media.

He was good friends with Wilkie Collins, another popular novelist of the Victorian era. Collins also produced genre work.
