The 1976 Campbell Award was presented September 5 at MidAmeriCon.

Arthur Byron Cover and Tanith Lee received enough nominations to be on the ballot and were initially announced to be on it, but Tony Lewis discovered that they were not eligible due to previous publications and so they were removed, with Joan Vinge and M. A. Foster being added to the ballot to replace them.
